Missing Persons didn't show up for this show. I remember The Mechanics as being lame. They wore auto mechanic clothes and had Penzoil banners.

Greetings. Just wanted to clarify the 81' Missing Persons show. They actually did sound check (and sounded great, especially Terry Bozzio), but after a tune or two Dale told the sound guy the place was a dump (it did have peanut shells on the floor :-) and then had a hissy fit that they were too good to play there (since Capitol just signed them). The yelling got worse until they took their ball and went home. Us (The Mechanics) and the other band played for half price!
We weren't usually lame (as your post points out), but we were running on fumes in 81'. Wish you'd seen us 1977'ish. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Mechanics
Always liked Jaames Dean/Harlin drummer Drake. Good groove & meter. Looked cool too!
What was really lame was my taste in music at that time. The Seeds & The Monkees. I moved to Mission Viejo from Anaheim around that time. I was a freak. It was about the B52's & The Go Go's there.
Nick if you got any audio or video I'd love to post a few songs of your band. Anything from this night perhaps? Pics, Audio....
